DISNEY WONDER CRUISE SHIP IN FALMOUTH
The popular Disney Wonder cruise ship will make its first call on Falmouth today stirring anticipation for its arrival to the town. Mayor of Falmouth Councillor Garth Wilkinson is upbeat about its arrival, and is hoping that a deal can be sealed to see the vessel returning for at least a few years. The Mayor said that, “The benefits of cruise shipping to Falmouth is not huge, therefore it has not been maximised but the more ships the town has, the greater the benefit even without a full expansion, therefore I am happy about Disney coming to the town.”
There will be a reception to welcome the vessel and while it may not be as huge as the first cruise ship to the town in 2011 or the largest cruise ship docking in Falmouth weeks thereafter, it is expected that a large crowd will converge on the town for this maiden voyage. This 2,400 passenger capacity Disney Wonder will on this run, be in the Caribbean for seven days.
The cruse started in Galveston, Texas. It will return to Falmouth on the 22nd, twice in November and once in December. Disney Wonder is operated by Disney Cruise Line and is one of the four ships operated by this company. It began its run in 1999 and has 11 public decks along with a crew of approximately 1,000.
